Not a lot has been going on these last couple weeks. The track performed wonderfully for the unmeet. Pete and Mario have turned their attention to getting Pete’s house finished as quick as possible. Poor Ron has been working a lot of hours. I have been sick as the proverbial dog for going on 2 weeks. That has left poor Bruce to tinker about on his own. So he has focus o minor maintenance issues. Partly because the track doesn’t need much work but mainly because we have threatened to duct tape him to a bench if we catch him trying to lift too much and risk re-injuring his shoulder.
Guys,
This may come as a surprise to some but not to all who follow the BCRR, but the LONG talked about tunnel project is under way. Quite a few of the main support frames are finished. It absolutely is rounding the curve in the NE corner of the property.
Now for those that are not familar with the track layout of the BCRR, and are wondering how will the traffic travel through it, this is how. Keep in mind that Bobby T. and Pete B. devised a track plan that gives the appearance of a double track main. Much of the trackage at the BCRR is oposite direction running. Main line style. And the tunnel is also double track, opposite running. This should prove to be rather interesting when two steamers meet and pass each other, in opposite directions, within the tunnel.
So thats the latest project under way at the BCRR. No time frame right now for completion. We will do what we can do as supplies permit.
Bruce R.
Guys,
Just a little update on the latest “little” project at the BCRR for those that follow along here at the BCRR blog. As of the week of Dec. 7, 2011 all of the support frames are completed. along with quite a bit of the outside covering. And Pete has been working on the stone work on the off set south portals. they are really looking nice. So trains will be rolling through a partially finished tunnel at the BCRR.
Friends,
don’t look for any progress on the tunnel project. It was cancelled by the complaint of one of the neighbors on the road at the BCRR. So Pete, Mario and myself took down all of the structure that we had previously built. Very sad, for many reasons. It would have and could have been a really nice additon to the RR. But,,,,, we are marching on. In spite of negative people.
Bruce
Sorry to hear that Bruce. Sounds as if you have the same type of neighbors in Florida as we do up here in New Jersey. Some people are just assholes. Oops can I say that here? Cya soon Bruce.
